The 2007 Miracle Mile raised $2,904 for Children’s Hospital of Illinois at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center. The event was held near Peoria’s RiverPlex on June 3 as part of the Children’s Miracle Network Telethon celebration.
The funds were raised through registration fees, donations by area businesses and pledges obtained by runners and walkers. Colson Crouch of Morton raised the most pledges and won a new bicycle donated by Little Ade’s of Pekin.
A total of 19 area businesses gave in-kind donations or direct financial support that totaled $6,114.
Miracle Mile is held each year for children through the eighth grade with varying distances. It is designed to encourage a more active lifestyle for children and celebrate the benefits of exercise in a non-competitive environment. All children who finished received a first place ribbon; all participants received a free t-shirt and a “goodie bag.”
