Children's Hospital of Illinois and Illinois Public Interest Research Group (PIRG) held a joint news conference on hazardous toys and the release of the 21st Annual Illinois Trouble in Toyland report.   John Hafner, M.D. Emergency Medicine physician at Children's Hospital/OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, and Tobi Erner, PIRG representative, spoke on the types of hazards that certain toys pose to children of young ages as well as demonstrated how certain toys can be unsafe for children. 

When purchasing toys, parents are urged to look for the following hazards:

  • Choking hazards
  • Toxic Chemicals
  • Dangerously Loud toys
  • Strangulation hazards
