The staff of the Library & Resource Center welcomes the opportunity to help you with your information needs. Whether using a print resource in a comfortable corner of the library, or an electronic resource at your desktop, you will find comprehensive and reliable information for patient care, teaching, and research. The Library & Resource Center is open 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with 24-hour access to qualified personnel.
Collection
Offering both print and electronic books and journals, the Library has over 5,000 books, 13,000 bound journals, 600 current journals, and 500 audiovisuals. Collection strengths include internal medicine and its subspecialties, pediatrics and its subspecialties, cardiology, and nursing.
Services
Library services include circulation of materials, interlibrary loan, document delivery, Regional News, Advisory Board, Table of Contents Current Awareness, and Literature Searching.
Databases
Library professional staff have access to over 500 online databases through MEDLARS, DIALOG, Ovid & OCLC. Specialty searches can be run in the areas of toxicology, cancer, business, computer technology, general news, or other topics not covered in the medical literature. Literature searches are generally performed and returned within 24 hours. For patient care purposes, library staff will accommodate your immediate request.
Database Training & Orientation
Medical librarians are available to teach groups and individuals about Internet searching, advanced database use and finding quality evidence-based information.
Do-it-yourself searching
Three computer workstations are available for patron searching of databases and electronic resources including Ovid, UpToDate, MDConsult, Micromedex and more.

The Library’s website is on the public Internet. The address is: http://library.osfhealthcare.org/. The site is updated frequently and provides electronic books, request forms, journals, the online catalog, new materials, databases, and quality websites.
Center for Health Resource Library
In addition to our professional library, we also have a Consumer Health Library offering medical information and services for the general public. The Center for Health Resource Library is open Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, and is located at the OSF Saint Francis Center for Health.
