Riding a bicycle is a fun part of childhood, and Children's Hospital of Illinois wants it to be a safe time too!
The best way to stay safe while riding a bicycle is to ALWAYS wear a helmet. Wearing a proper fitting helmet can reduce the chances of serious head injuries by 85%. Teaching children to wear helmets and follow simple bicycle safety guidelines can create safe habits.
Community Bicycle Rodeos are fun, interactive events where children can learn about:
- Proper helmet use
- Safe riding practices
- Hand signals and traffic rules
- Bicycle maintenance
And for the youngest riders, Toddler Tricycle Rodeos are also held. Toddlers receive free helmets while parents learn how to begin teaching bicycle safety at a young age.
Children who do not have a helmet will receive a free bicycle helmet at the rodeo.
