The Division of Trauma Services at Children's Hospital of Illinois provides comprehensive trauma care for children injured in Region II as well as tertiary care for all pediatrics. It is staffed by board-certified pediatric surgeons. Annually, there are more than 800 admissions to trauma services. Approximately 100 of these are admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
The Emergency Department is staffed by board-certified emergency medicine physicians 24 hours a day, who are experienced in the treatment of children. The surgical suite is located on the third floor, only seconds from the Emergency Department. An operating room is staffed and immediately available to care for trauma patients. Burns are managed by Transfer Agreement to a Burn Center if the patients requires this specialized care.

Transport to the Children's Hospital of Illinois is accommodated by ground and/or air. LIFE FLIGHT is available for aeromedical transportation, responding within five minutes. Emergency transfers can be made by calling 1 (800) 252-5437.
