Children’s Hospital of Illinois has developed a Pediatric Home Ventilator/ High Technology Program in effort to fulfill the medical, psychosocial and financial needs of children requiring chronic ventilatory assistance. The staff assists children (newborn to 21 years) who have the following respiratory management needs:

  • Chronic ventilator use
  • Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP)
  • Positive Expiratory End Pressure (PEEP)
  • Tracheostomy with or without supplemental oxygen
  • Bipap with or without tracheostomy
  • Negative pressure ventilation (iron lung pneumo suit)

The program is staffed by a medical director, nurse coordinator, respiratory therapist, occupational and speech therapists, registered dietitian, social worker and support staff who understand a child’s needs. They work closely with the patient and family easing the transition from hospital to home. To contact the program coordinator, please call (309) 655-2312.
