The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology services at the Children’s Hospital of Illinois diagnoses and treats a full range of hematologic and oncologic problems in infants, children and adolescents. They provide inpatient and outpatient consultations and short and long-term follow up of patients.
The division provides diagnosis and treatment of:
- Red blood cell abnormalities, such as hereditary spherocytosis
- White cell disorders such as neutropenia
- Sickle cell disease, including neonatal screening follow-up for trait and disease
- Platelet abnormalities such as immune thrombocytopenic purpura
- Selected bleeding disorders
- Hematologic malignancies such as leukemia
- Solid tumors of childhood such as lymphoma, neuroblastoma and brain tumors
The division also provides coordination of services such as multiple medical consultations, psychosocial support and school related assistance for children with complex and/or chronic illness. For more information, please call (309) 624-4945.
