Surgical Services

Children's Hospital of Illinois' Pediatric Surgery Center is the primary teaching facility for the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria for pediatric surgery and provides all surgical services for Children's Hospital of Illinois. The center provides 24-hour physician coverage and the immediate availability of pediatric specialists for urgent or routine pediatric surgical consultation.

Services include:

• 24-hour availability for consultation and referral
• One location for referrals, consultations, evaluations and testing
• Electronically linked to radiology and lab
• Same-day response for urgent issues and 48-72 hours for routine follow-ups
• Caremaps for commonly referred diseases
• Complicated multi-specialty cases all reviewed and seen in same location
• Child-friendly atmosphere

In addition, the Center's pediatric trained team includes multi-specialty physicians, nurses, Child Life specialists, social workers, pastoral care and support staff.
